New Features to Come

Posted on June 9, 2008

Flash CS4 -“diesel” is coming with really fantastic new features that will make make the interactive designers really proud of it. Starting from the brand new timeline operation (where you need not have to put a key frame to get your objects animated), IK( Inverse Kinematics) , vectors and many others will definitely produce fun and excitement. Below is a small list for these features.

1. New Timeline Animation - To add motion tween or shape tween, you need to right click the object and select appropriate tween and now drag or change the tween properties. Flash will automatically make the tween. No need to put key frames for the start position and end position… If you need to change the duration then simply drag the time line- that’s it. You wont be sseing any dotted arrows indicating no tween frames.

2. Vector Class - The new vector is basically a typed array, which has same APIs as that of an array except it does not contain a gap in between the elements of the class. It contains elements of the similar data types ( supports both inbuilt and custom data type). This increases performance while searching through the elements in a loop.

3. Inverse Kinematics -  Well there is a nice example, Lee Brimelow has provided how the Flash CS4 inverse kinematics will work for you.

Other expected features:

4. 3D object roataion , transformation targeting at flash player 10

5. 64-bit support

6. More time line effects.

    Hi Pradyumna,

Yes i do agree that Flash CS4 has many advantages over CS3 version, but don’t you think that handling CS4 is much more complicated and unstable than CS3 version?

For me, CS3 was very easy to handle and manage. But with CS4 i have found that is crashes too often and the environment gets difficult while handling both the code and the design part.

Yes, some times I got this kind of problem.
